EVENT WELFARE

Event Welfare

Bluestone Medical are proud to announce that launching at the beginning of 2024 is our new Event Welfare service.

Our welfare teams will offer event organisers a more diverse array of cover and will play a vital role in making sure all event staff and visitors are supported sufficiently and they have that crucial safety net in times of need or crisis. Working hand in hand with our medical and security teams as well as other partner agencies we aim to be there to offer help, support and signposting to anyone in need.

We provide a safe space for those experiencing anxiety or other mental health issues, intoxication centres for those under the influence of alcohol or substances and we offer a private space for baby changing and breastfeeding as well as any other bespoke requirement.

Welfare services are provided for people who find themselves in difficulties. They fill in the gaps not provided by other specialist services, such as medical, security, police or stewards. While some of these services are routinely undertaken by security and medical teams on site, but it falls outside of their usual scope of practice and these staff are often untrained and inexperienced to suitably manage a welfare situation, this can lead to improper advice, care or onward support.

Providing information and welfare services at an event not only contributes to the health and safety and well-being of the visitors and staff, but also acts as an early warning system to detect any potential breakdown of services or facilities on site. Our trained and experienced event welfare teams relieves the pressure on medical and security teams and it gives a more focused and dedicated service to any one requiring non-medical support.

Our welfare staff come from all walks of life and we are lucky to have a huge range of knowledge within our teams, we employ workers from day centres, night shelters, drugs projects, youth services, counselling and alcohol services, probation, social services, mental health workers, charity professionals, teachers and solicitors who all offer relevant experience that is invaluable in a welfare service setting.
